To participate in the Trout in the Classroom project you must be a teacher of a 4th or 5th grade class in the Nevada area and follow the steps listed below.

    1. Apply to be a volunteer for the Nevada Department of Wildlife. This entails filling out an application that shows your name, address, and contact information, as well as your social security number. Please be advised that the social security number is required and it will be used in a background check by the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

    2. Take a Trout Education Class which shows you how to run the program and includes information on how to care for the fish tank, take care of the trout eggs, and all the other information you will need to run the program.

    3. You will be given a tank and eggs to start the program. Once you complete the program you will need to fill out a final report that shows the results of the program. Once this step is complete then you may reapply for eggs to continue the program.
