    Teacher workshops:

    These workshops provide teachers with the training they need to implement the following wildlife curriculums in their classroom.

    • Project Wild Teacher Training, Lincoln County
      Taught by Margie Klein, Conservation Educator III, NDOW Southern Region, 702-486-5127 x 3502
      August 4 & 5, 2009, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days
      At Caliente Elementary School in Caliente
      1 inservice credit through Nevada State Department of Education; also 1 graduate credit available through Southern Utah University.

      Project Wild is a nationwide education program with emphasis on wildlife and habitat. The curriculum is for students in grades K-12 and can be adapted to all learning styles and abilities. The interdisciplinary approach of Project Wild fits into a variety of subject areas from language skills to math. Workshop attendees will take home a curriculum book with over 100 wildlife teaching activities.

      Join us as we learn about the reptiles of the Mojave Desert. We will have close encounters of the scaly kind with live animals as we learn about what they eat, how they live and their special adaptations. Don’t worry, no venomous species are invited.
