FREE FLY FISHING CLASSES IN SOUTHERN REGION

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is offering two introductory classes for those interested in learning about fly-fishing and tying their own flies. The first is an introduction to fly-fishing course that will help students learn what fly fishing is all about and also cover casting skills. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Nevada Division of State Parks conference room located at 4747 Vegas Drive. The class will begin at 8 a.m. with a lecture portion and hands-on knot tying then break until noon when the class will reconvene at Floyd Lamb Park near Durango and Highway 95 for the casting portion. Equipment and materials will be provided.

For those interested in learning how to tie their own fishing flies, NDOW is holding a beginning fly-tying class Tuesday, Oct. 27at 6:30 p.m. at the agency’s Las Vegas office located at 4747 Vegas Drive. Students will learn the art of tying fishing flies using fur, feathers and fun. All equipment and materials will be provided and participants will get to keep the flies they make.
