Wildlife Commission to Discuss Big Game Tag Options
The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners is scheduled to meet on March 25-26 at the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) office at 1100 Valley Road in Reno.
Commissioners will begin their two-day meeting on Friday, March 25 at 9 a.m. with the agenda including action on a petition to allow reinstatement of bonus points when a tag holder is unable to hunt due to a death in the family. They will also review the upland game stamp program and approve expenditures for the program for the 2006 fiscal year.
The opening day agenda also includes review of NDOW’s trapping and transplant programs for 2006 and 2007 for big game, upland game and migratory birds. There will be reports from NDOW Director Terry Crawforth, the Wildlife Damage Management Committee, Bighorn Sheep Management Plan Review Committee and Mule Deer Species Policy Plan Committee. Other reports that will be given include the Lincoln and White Pine elk sub-plans, NDOW’s marketing program, Question 1 bond program, status of water developments in wilderness areas and a report on mule deer supplemental feeding.
On Saturday, March 26 commissioners will meet at 8:30 a.m. and will hear a report from their Legislative Committee and may take action to support or oppose various 2005 legislative proposals. The Commission will begin a review of their policies and will consider a new policy for hunting opportunities among weapons and hunter groups.
The meeting is open to the public and public comment periods will be held both days. A meeting agenda can be viewed at NDOW’s web site at www.ndow.org.
