Board of Wildlife Commissioners Consider OHV Regulations

    • In December 2003 at the request of many Nevada sportsmen, the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners considered a draft regulation that would control hunting from an Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) while away from established roadways.

    • The Board received testimony at formal public meetings in Reno in December 2003 and in Las Vegas in January 2004.

    • In addition, the Board accepted input related to the proposed regulation from County Advisory Boards to Manage Wildlife (CABMW) in both December and January.

    • Commissioners decided in January 2004 to withdraw the draft regulation until further analysis of the perceived problems and potential solutions could be made.

    • Consultation with federal and state land management agencies is now ongoing as the Board considers roles and responsibilities in this complex issue.

    • The Board is most interested in public opinion on this issue and you are welcome to provide your comments in care of the Secretary to the Commission, 1100 Valley Road, Reno NV 89512 or via email at ndowinfo@ndow.org.
